YOU HAVE QUESTIONS

WE HAVE ANSWERS

DO I HAVE TO HIRE AN IMMIGRATION CONSULTANT OR LAWYER TO REPRESENT ME?

No. You have the right to represent yourself or you can hire an immigration consultant or lawyer.

However, there are clear advantages to having a firm like North Point working for you. We have the experience, knowledge and ability to navigate through a complex and bureaucratic system. If you are a foreigner and there is a mistake on your application it can easily be rejected—and re-doing it can be costly and timely.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN IMMIGRATION CONSULTANTS AND IMMIGRATION LAWYER?

The key difference between the two professions is the level of education and price.

Lawyers go to law school to and learn about the entire legal system and may specialize in immigration law. Immigration consultants focus their studies on immigration, law, policy and procedure. Another key difference is that only a lawyer can represent you in the rare instance that your case is appealed at the Supreme Court of Canada.

If a lawyer is needed, North Point Immigration will work with a roster of immigration lawyers to ensure your file is handled with care.

North Point Principal Rajvir Rao holds a B.A. and M.A. from reputable Canadian universities, in addition to having practical experience relating to government and immigration.

HOW DO I KNOW IF I AM DEALING WITH A LEGITIMATE CANADIAN IMMIGRATION CONSULTANT?

There are a lot of fake and unethical people operating immigration consulting businesses.

To ensure you are represented by a regulated immigration consultant always ask if he or she is a member in good standing with ICCRC, and ask for their registration number.

Beware if a consultant promises you a successful application. Immigration consultants cannot guarantee results. The end result is determined by a Canadian immigration official.

Rajvir Rao R517288 is a member in good standing with ICCRC.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FOR MY APPLICATION TO BE PROCESSED?

Each immigration stream and office responsible for your file has different turnaround times.

The government can also make legislative and regulatory changes, or operational and ministerial instructions that can impact your application.
